MY THORN
There's a thorn in my flesh,
that keeps bringing me down.
There's a thorn in my soul,
that keeps coming around.
The harder I fight it,
the closer it nears.
As I pray for deliverance,
my thorn reappears.
The sins of my past,
are all dead and gone.
But this thorn in my flesh,
is still hanging on.
I keep reading the word,
and I pray everyday.
That this thorn in my flesh,
will be taken away.
But your answer is silent,
my thorn will not flee.
When you answer, My Grace,
is sufficient for thee.
My flesh and my spirit,
keep waging their wars.
Though my spirit stays strong,
the lion still roars.
Still consumed by my failure,
I look to the Cross.
And ask your forgiveness,
this battle I've lost.
Please help me prevail Lord,
when temptation is born.
And please show me the secret,
to conquer this thorn.
If I resist that old Devil,
you say that he'll flee.

PRAY IN THE BATTLE
I know Lord I don’t always try
And sometimes I don’t even care
I often let the worries of this world
Become a heavy burden to bear
I know at times I do not react
The way that I know I should
Instead my feelings rule my tongue
And I’m often misunderstood
I get so sick of constantly repeating
The same failures day after day
I feel so worn down by the constant battle
Maybe I should give up and ‘Pray’
Does this sound at all familiar?
Are life’s hassles wearing you out?
Do you remember to stop and pray?
So faith can replace your doubt
God never said that it would be easy
But He did say He’d always be there
We need to stop battling on our own
And give it over in prayer
Prayer is the one thing we should always do
Constantly, throughout the day
When we are faced with spiritual battles
We should never forget to pray
It’s so important to commit each day
Into the care of the Lord
So we can walk more victoriously
Than how we had walked before
The enemy tries to get a foothold
In every little way he can
We must be aware of his evil tactics

HEAVEN'S VERY SPECIAL CHILD A meeting was held quite far from earth. "It's time again for another birth,"
said the angels to the Lord above. "This special child will need much love." His progress might seem very slow, accomplishments he may not show,
and he'll require extra care from folks he meets way down there. He may not run or laugh or play. His thoughts may seem quite far away.
In many ways he won't adapt, and he'll be known as handicapped. So let's be careful where he's sent, we want his life to be content.
Please, Lord find the parents who will do a special job for You. They will not realize right away the leading role they're asked to play.
But, with this child sent from above comes stronger faith and richer love. And soon they'll know the privilege given in caring for this gift from heaven.

I Refuse to be down-hearted and here's the reason why
I have a GOD who's Mighty, who's Sovereign and Supreme
I have a GOD who loves me, and I am on HIS team
HE is all Wise and Powerful, JEHOVAH IS HIS name
Though everything is changeable, my GOD remains the same
My GOD knows all that's happening, beginning to the end
HIS Presence is my comfort, HE is my "DEAREST FRIEND"
When sickness comes to weaken me,
to bring my head down low
I call upon my Mighty GOD, into HIS arms I go
When circumstances threaten, to rob me of my peace
HE draws me close unto HIS breast, where all my strivings cease
When my heart melts within me, and weakness takes control
HE gathers me into HIS arms, HE soothes my heart and soul
The great "I AM" is with me, my life is in HIS hand
The "GOD OF JACOB" is my Hope, it's in HIS strength I stand
I Refuse to be defeated, my eyes are on my GOD
HE has promised to be with me, as through this life I trod
I'm looking past all circumstance, to Heaven's throne above

THE WORST THAT COULD HAPPEN IS THE BEST
As I was sitting down one day,
I felt the need to think and pray,
But soon my thoughts took over prayer,
A Still Small Voice cried out, "Beware!"
"Ignore that voice," Concern called out,
"You must get up, you lazy lout,
And tend these things that need your care,
Pray later on, He'll still be there."
As I gave way to what he said,
I felt a sense of fear and dread,
The floodgate opened, doubts poured in,
They took control with much chagrin.
My list of worries grew and grew,
I cried out, "God, what should I do?"
Again He spoke; I heard His voice,
And realized I had a choice.
I could dwell upon these things,
Or give them to the King of Kings,
And enter into holy rest,
Stand on His promise for the best.
I entered in and took His peace,
My spirit felt a great release,
Things of this world may worry some,
For me, the best is yet to come.
For those who stand in His sweet rest,
The worst to happen is the best,
Because in death we have His grace,
As then we meet Him face to face.

Jesus is my absolute everything.
He is the rock to which I cling.
In Him, I find protection from the storm,
Keeping me safe, and holding me warm.
The compassion I see in His loving eyes
Gives me strength amidst worldly hurt and lies.
His soft voice gently whispers in my ear,
Reassuring me, He is always near.
With His strong arms, He lifts me up tall,
Whenever I stumble and fall.
His feet stay in perfect rhythm to mine,
Never missing a beat, or lacking behind.
The glorious shine of His bright light,

Through his blood, He washes me clean
Of all my transgressions and sin.
Without Jesus, I'd be forever lost,

God brings people into our lives for a specific reason;
They may be in our lives for a long period of time or only for a season.
During this time whether short or long,
we are given trials to make us spiritually strong.
Not only for our strength but also for our character and perseverance;
we shall come out with tremendous endurance.
God loves us so much that he cleanses us of filthy dross,
refining and shaping us so that we will not be lost.
All we have to do is continue to have faith, trust and believe,

"Ignore that voice," Concern called out,
"You must get up, you lazy lout,
And tend these things that need your care,
Pray later on, He'll still be there."
As I gave way to what he said,
I felt a sense of fear and dread,
The floodgate opened, doubts poured in,
They took control with much chagrin.
My list of worries grew and grew,
I cried out, "God, what should I do?"
Again He spoke; I heard His voice,
And realized I had a choice.
I could dwell upon these things,
Or give them to the King of Kings,
And enter into holy rest,
Stand on His promise for the best.
I entered in and took His peace,
My spirit felt a great release,
Things of this world may worry some,
For me, the best is yet to come.
For those who stand in His sweet rest,
The worst to happen is the best,
Because in death we have His grace,
As then we meet Him face to face.

FRIENDLY OBSTACLES
For every hill I’ve had to climb,
For every stone that bruised my feet,
For all the blood and sweat and grime,
For blinding storms and burning heart,
My heart sings but a grateful song -
These were the things that made me strong!
For all the heartaches and the tears,
For all the anguish and the pain,
For gloomy days and fruitless years,
And for the hopes that lie in vain,
I do give thanks for now I know
These were the things that helped me grow!
‘Tis not the softer things of life
Which stimulates man’s will to strive;
But bleak adversity and strife
Do most to keep man’s will alive,
O’er rose-strewn paths the weaklings creep

Just Like Me
Dear Lord, forgive our yielding to temptation;
Forgive our pride, our love of worldly things.
Have mercy on our love of sensual pleasure,
Compassion on the sins that self love brings.It must be hard to understand us sometimes;
So very different is your heart and mind.
But wait, I just remembered that you do know
What it’s like to be a part of humankind.You suffered just like we do, and you were tempted.
You lived with us so you could comprehend
The things that we go through each trying day,
So you could give us mercy, and be our friend.Thank you for compassion and forgiveness;
Thank you for your love and empathy.
Thank you, Lord, for coming down from heaven

"My Life With Jesus"
Jesus is my absolute everything.
He is the rock to which I cling.
In Him, I find protection from the storm,
Keeping me safe, and holding me warm.
The compassion I see in His loving eyes
Gives me strength amidst worldly hurt and lies.
His soft voice gently whispers in my ear,
Reassuring me, He is always near.
With His strong arms, He lifts me up tall,
Whenever I stumble and fall.
His feet stay in perfect rhythm to mine,
Never missing a beat, or lacking behind.
The glorious shine of His bright light,
Keeps me on the right path, day and night.
Through his blood, He washes me clean
Of all my transgressions and sin.
Without Jesus, I'd be forever lost,
Down in the pit, at an eternal cost.
With Him, I have peace in my life,
And the promise of eternal paradise.

God Chose Me
You came to heal the broken-hearted,
And to set the captives free.
To release prisoners from the darkness,
My sweet Jesus, I was all three.
But by God's pleasure, He chose me.
And for that, I praise His name.
If He hadn't continued to seek me,
I would have stayed in sin and shame.
Your Spirit working to convict me,
Saved my soul and set me free.
For with my sinful human nature,
I would never have looked for Thee.
Eternity in Your presence,
God gives all who come to You.
We need only to believe and trust,
What He promises, He will do.
Oh, sweet Jesus, my sweet Jesus,
All my sins You washed from me.
And I know that You are waiting,
Just beyond the Crystal Sea.
My soul yearns to be with You,
And from this sinful world be free.
I long to kneel and thank You,
For Your grace in choosing me.

TIMES AND SEASONS
God brings people into our lives for a specific reason;
They may be in our lives for a long period of time or only for a season.
During this time whether short or long,
we are given trials to make us spiritually strong.
Not only for our strength but also for our character and perseverance;
we shall come out with tremendous endurance.
God loves us so much that he cleanses us of filthy dross,
refining and shaping us so that we will not be lost.
All we have to do is continue to have faith, trust and believe,
And we will be given eternal life as the greatest gift to be received.

Sometimes life does not make sense,
It’s hard and filled with pain.
It seems that everything goes wrong,
Dark days are here again.
The road you’re on is lonely,
You’re filling with despair.
Sadness fills your broken heart,
You wish someone would care.
But there is someone out there,
Who loves you very much.
He longs to heal your broken heart,
With his gentle touch.
He will never leave you,
He longs to soothe your soul.
He’ll hold you in His loving arms,
And never let you go.
He’ll fill your life with so much joy,
His peace will fill your soul.
He will set your heart so free,
His love will make you whole.
All your pain and sorrow,
He’ll gladly take from you.
He’ll fill you up with happiness,
And make you feel brand new.
The one who can do all of this,
Is Jesus Christ the Lord.
He can fill you up with strength,
Then be your shield and sword.
Jesus love you O so much,
That on the cross He died.
He paid the price so you can live,
Forever by His side.
Just pray to Jesus; ask Him in,
Then in your heart He’ll live.
He’ll never walk away from you,
His love He’ll freely give.
He’s here for you, just trust in Him,
And give Him all your pain.
He longs for you to trust in Him,
And feel His blessings rain.
